I want to first say, Happy Mothers Day Gorgeous! Just one day celebrating your amazing abilities in being a fantastic mother will never be enough. Just know that your loved ones adore you from head to toe in all your motherly efforts! I believe there are so many aspects of motherhood. From a mother who has angels babies or still caring her bundle to full term, to a foster mom who mothers so many children in need of love, or the Aunt who took on extended family’s children to give them the home they deserved. Sunday is YOUR day too, and you should be overly celebrated!

I don’t think I have talked about this too much in the past, but I have been so, so blessed to have two absolutely perfect mothers. One who guides me from the holes in the floor of heaven, and my mom who handles all my day to day crazy on earth. These women have showed me what truly being a mother is all about. I at times feel intimidated to attempt to fill those shoes in my role as “Mom” in my own family. God blessed me through and through with these perfect women to help guide me on my own path of motherhood.

Kyle and I lost our sweet bundle the end of last year. I at many times in my life have lived in the fantasy land of “nothing can go wrong”. And you would think by now I would know better than to have that mindset. But this princess likes to try and live in fairytale land from time to time. I never truly thought miscarriage would be something that I would have to go through. Well, ding ding ding, I was WRONG! I still feel like I earn the title as mom to our angel baby. Through all the excitement, and sorrow I was still a mom. I pray for our child that God continues to protect them and have my mother hold them in all her love while we are still here on earth. Doctors have confirmed that Kyle and I should have no issues conceiving, but after trying again and still no luck a gal kinda gets down in the dumps especially around this time of year. This Mother’s Day I have many emotions because I miss my heavenly mother so, and I am saddened that I can’t make my earthly momma a grandmother yet. I have days where I let the negativity eat me up. Thennnnnn my lovely God wraps his arms around me and says “ I know the plans I have for you” – Jeremiah 29:11″. And with a smile because his is peace covering me, I throw on my sassy pants and simply smile 🙂

Whatever stage you’re at in motherhood I hope you’re celebrated this week like the queen you are! Dance until you fall, laugh until you cry, and completely & totally trust in God’s greater plan for you and your family. His plan is far better than anything you can dream of!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOU!

Once Upon A Bride

With my hubby and I’s wedding anniversary coming up on Monday I have been having all the bridal feels. It really came to mind that why can’t I dress the bridal part (the scaled down version) while celebrating our anniversary? The answer for me is, “Rock those bridal vibes until your heart is content”. I think doing this for your anniversary helps bring back memories of what you’re celebrating with one another. This year we will be cheering the Texas Rangers on in Dallas while celebrating our 2nd year of marriage together. We will also be doing a dinner, still unsure of where, but this is when my white number will be making it’s debut. These picks are also great for Brides-to-be. From Bridal Showers, to Rehearsal Dinners any of these UNDER $100 pieces will be the perfect bridal look. Annnnnd this dress can also be used when celebrating your future wedding anniversary. Killing multiple birds with one laced stone!

If you want to see back down memory lane of the past years with Kyle and I as a couple, I am sharing a photo from our Engagements, Wedding, Honeymoon, and 1 year wedding anniversary below 🙂

From the moment I knew I wanted to launch Gracefully Sassy, I wanted to have a blog post on all things me, and where my love of fashion grew from. So here goes nothing (this is the scariest part of blogging, being open and raw but I know you love and support crazy ‘ole me so I’ll give it to you straight 🙂 )

  1. I HATE hotdogs. Haha, probably not what you were expecting. People who really know me, know that this is the one food I might die before I eat. I just can’t stand the taste and it makes me sick to my stomach to even think about the taste.
  2. Shoes, Shoes, Shoes! Blame it on gorgeous mother, but this girl can NEVER have too many shoes. I can have enough, but never too many!
  3. I am a passionate person, and I really think this is the best way to truly describe myself. If I love something, I will show that with every once of myself. If I find something funny, the whole room will know I think something is funny lol. And fashion, I tell people that this little blog of mine is where I chase my fashion passion. I love how all thing fashion are some sort of an expression of you. Whether it be your mood, style, passion, love, it’s expressing something about you.
  4. Now this is real honesty: I am a spender (I swear it’s in my genetics)! Budgeting… well, that isn’t my strong suit. Many thanks to one of my best friends at Lively Fit Mind, my husband and I will be attending Financial Peace University through our church next month to improve this not so graceful side of me.
  5. On a lighter side: I always enjoy going two-stepping! I own many, many pairs of cowboy boots that love to hit the dance floor. As a person with high anxiety, two-stepping lets someone like me be a little care free for a few moments.
  6. “She’s my little whiskey girl!” Yep, I like Whiskey. I believe I stear more towards the side of Canadian whiskey (not Crown Royal), rather than Tennessee. But Gentlemen Jack Daniels is my go-to (and Jack Daniels taste more like true Canadian whiskey than it does Tennessee, just saying). There is a craft liquor bar here in Houston I really enjoy going to try craft whiskey, it’s called Anvil.
  7. I treat our dog like he truly is our child. I am not exactly a lover of cats, but dogs are like my children. We sing PoBoy lullabies in the evenings before bed. He also has a baby sitter who comes by during the work day named Mrs. Kathleen (he ADORES her). I tell myself he is never going to age and pass away, because let’s be real I can’t handle the thought of that emotional craziness.
  8. I was going to go to 10 facts, but this one might be long enough for two. My biological mother was my ultimate #2 everything in life. I say #2, because God is always #1! She was sensational, as a mother, wife, friend, and child of God. In my mind much like God, she walked on water. Sadly, she passed away when my little sister and I were young. My father later remarried the amazing woman we now today call Momma. Talk about Godly, she loved us as her own from the moment she laid eyes on us. She tells us always how much she can’t wait to meet our mother in heaven. She TRULY is my hero inside and out. She taught me to be a strong, confident woman who loves whole heartedly. Okay, I am sure you’re wondering where I am going with this. Well my mother, before she passed, raised Allison and I in what felt like a world of shoes, accessories, and clothes. She taught us everything fashion and I grew up with a passion for fashion from a very early age. I knew I wanted to share my life through fashion to the world and it wasn’t until a few years ago I found blogging and said “YES! Mom, I am going to make you proud!”.
  9. If you haven’t noticed yet.. I am talker! I will talk your ear off and then go and talk to the wall until it falls out too. Hahaha, I just made myself laugh. Even in high school my teachers would inform my mom of my issues of being a so called “Chatty Kathy’.
  10. My maiden name is Guidry and I come from a long line of Creole. My father’s (who I no longer speak to.. long story with him) family is from South Louisiana. I was born wearing purple and gold, while crying out “Laissez temps bons rouler”. I love my family dearly and try to see them as often as I can. I tell my husband: In this house baby, we serve the Lord and eat etouffee! If you didn’t catch my Mardi Gras blog post last month, we go see my family a few times a year as well as go to New Orleans. We do hope to retire in South Louisiana, most likely close to Lafayette but that is MANY, MANY years away haha.

I hope you enjoyed reading about all my crazy, I have wanted to write this post for as long as I wanted to start my blog. I have always known I wanted to be as real about myself as the fashion I post on. I am sure I will have another post with even more funny facts about myself sometime later this year.

Our Valentine’s Day of love had to be pushed back one day. My husband ended up working until midnight on the actual day, but what he did early that morning touched my heart in such a way even with the words I am typing they can’t fully describe the happiness I felt. Kyle and I haven’t had the perfect marriage. We have struggled like many others before us.  Something we both knew we wanted for our marriage when we got married was to never take the easy way out. We want nothing more than a marriage that will last in love and not accept defeat. Because of God’s grace we have made a full hearted, honest commitment to God to be the husband and wife he has always had us planned to be. Destruction is all around us and evil is easy to get sucked in to, but keeping your eyes on God will turn those negative things away. I promised God if he would truly heal our marriage that we would be a testament of his amazing love, and that he is NEVER FAILING! This is my start to keeping that promise. Okay, now onto how this has everything to do with the special Valentine’s gift Kyle created for me.

In Houston we have a Christian radio station (89.3 KSBJ) I enjoy listening to. Little tid bit, I grew up listening to this in the car with my parents, but up until last summer it had been years since I turned on KSBJ. I am constantly uplifted in all the hustle and bustle of Houston traffic by the sweet songs they play. KSBJ has a segment in the morning called “You’re Awesome!”. They play this segment when people write/call in to them wanting to love on family or friends who are just that, AWESOME! Not to my knowledge, Kyle had written into Rachelle and Carder early that week asking them to call me and tell me all about his love for me as his wife, and that he thinks I am just plain awesome! So…. Early Feb. 14 I received an awesome call from KSBJ radio surprising me with my sweet husbands plead of love for me. Not only did they relay this message, but lovely Rachelle prayed with me and I had such peace, happiness, and tears of love flow over me. They did joke with me and asked if Kyle was off the hook for getting flowers because of the call, I said “Oh you bet he is off the hook!”.

This was one of the kindest things Kyle has ever done for me. He wanted to show me Godly love and he did just that! Gods knows exactly what kind of love we need to be shown as husband and wife, and he does and amazing job at nudging us in the direction we need to go. Thanks for letting my gush over my amazing husband, and my unbelievable God!

My love of King Cake is far and wide, and well it has been for many years thanks to my family. My favorite comes from Meches Donut King bakery (yes, this cake is untraditional and made with donut bread).  Some of you may or may not know this, but my family is from South Louisiana. My maiden name happens to be Guidry, and I say “GEAUX TIGERS” proudly, while sipping on my milk punch yelling “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler”! This Oh So Cute tee from Shop SFT is perfect for Mardi Gras parties, or just to remind yourself that you can eat as much King Cake as your little heart desires. You will always have time after Fat Tuesday to work it off on the stair master… well, that’s my plan anyway.

I dare you to take the #KingCakeChallenge by ordering one of the cute tee from this adorable boutique and snap yourself wearing it while enjoying your favorite king cake. Maybe even grab a glass of Community Coffee to wash it down!

Sadly, I won’t be seeing my family for Mardi Gras this year. Fat Tuesday falls on February 28 and doesn’t line up with my work schedule well. So with our smiles turned upside down we will be having some bead throwing fun at home this year. Quick story on a past favorite Mardi Gras memory of mine: When my husband and I were only engaged, he had never been to my family’s hometown Mardi Gras, but knew how much going meant to me. This particular year Mardi Gras weekend fell on Valentine’s Day weekend. So, you can guess it right, he planned with my uncle a surprise Valentine’s trip to see my family for Mardi Gras! This little creole heart was so happy I cried tears of joy for a good hour. I was able to see my family and enjoy Mardi Gras with them, all while having my soon to be hubby by my side. Yep, I knew he was a for sure keeper after that lol.

Like I said above, I am obsessed with this boutique’s perfect tees! I wished I would have known about them year prior because having some of these shirts would have been a MUST. You will be seeing more of Shop SFT featured on the blog again during the coming football months. Get ready for Purple and Gold overload!
